Ecological Relationships of the Amazon Rainforest
The brazillian nut tree (above) is a tree that relies on many other species for its survival, one of which is the agouti, (below) a small rodent. The reason the trees rely on the agouti is because this is the only animal who has strong enough teeth to open their seed pods, although the agouti also eats the seeds, it leaves many seeds on the ground to allow trees to reproduce, and also buries seeds far away from the original tree. Another symbiotic relationship of the brazillian nut tree is that it depends on Euglossine orchid bees, these massive bees are the reason that the nut production, and thus the continuance of this trees species survival, is possible.
